In Stephen Crane’s novel The Red Badge of Courage, Henry Fleming was incorrectly perceived as courageous by his fellow soldier, but ironically he lived up o their convictions. Henry did not have courage at the beginning of the novel. ... He did, however, receive his own wound, “red badge of courage. ... Although these events supported Henry’s brave behavior, some believe Henry gained courage as he matured and realized that death was only death.
