Norma McCorvey, the real name of the plaintiff, was young and divorced at the time, searching for a solution to her unplanned pregnancy. The plaintiff’s case was that prohibiting a woman from having an abortion violated a Constitutional law under the fourteenth amendment, right to privacy.
