Transcendentalism in Emerson's Poetry

As one of the transcendentalists, Ralph Waldo Emerson produced many writings in his time that were influenced by transcendentalism. Transcendentalism was the belief that matters of ultimate reality "transcend, or go beyond" human experience. Ralph Waldo Emerson's poetry especially shows vivid examples of transcendental beliefs. "Concord Hymn" was written for the dedication of a monument to the minutemen.
