Revisiting Thomas Malthus in the 21st Century
In the 1800’s, Malthus said that “the human population cannot continue to grow without limits. ... [graphs] The new Malthus effect is predicted for the year 2020. ... Malthus has not been foiled as ____________ contends. Malthus was mainly concerned with the ‘positive check’ of sustenance levels, but he also mentioned disease. ... We entered the 20th century with less than 2 billion people and we entered the 21st century with more than 6 billion! ... So was Thomas Malthus really proven wrong?
