Women Are Dumber Than Men
Women are usually rescued. Women scream and moan for help from a big strong man. Women are often the victims of being controlled in a relationship. Men rescue. Men save. Men rule. ... More often than not, stories involved men as the character who could either have the power to save a woo or save a woman and end up happy, or use that same power to dominate or control a woman and end up as an enforcer. Since society at that time was viewing women as rather subservient, books were echoing that idea within their pages. ... On the outside, a lot of their writing appeared to be about how men, undoubtedly, had an edge over women and influenced the way their lives were either lived or ended. ... I chose to examine Hawthornes The Scarlet Letter and Poes Black Cat to illustrate how, while it appeared that women had no say in anything, in the end they usually got the last word.
