Fatal Light

Author Richard Currey’s novel about the life of a simple Mid-Western boy thrown into a war he did understand offers both insight into the mysterious happenings in Vietnam and the ways the soldiers were able to sustain it. Currey opens his novel with a preface, a quasi-war story, in order to set the stage and feel for the rest of the story. The soldiers who fought against communism were innocent young teenagers, many barely finished with high school, not able to go on with their future dreams. Currey was establishing the innocence of the main character.
