Math in the Real World
The graph I chose is from the Wall Street Journal, published on Thursday, June 6, 2002. It presents the percentage of individual income-tax returns signed by paid preparers, based on a sampling of returns through late April from 1995 until 2002. The x-variable being measured in this graph represents the yearly change in time, whereas the y-variable measures the actual percentage of people who used a tax preparer compared to all tax returns filed. The study appears to have been conducted over a yearly basis, up until April of this year, and was researched and paid for by the Internal Revenue Service.
