Internet Censorship
To Censor or Not? Someone's obviously reading the home page of The Perfect Murder and taking notes, which appear to be critical steps in a murder plotting process. This left me perplexed with an internal debate of is it my responsibility and civic duty as a librarian to report suspicious or potentially criminal behavior? Is it more important to respect the privacy of an individual citizen who could have a legitimate purpose unknown to me? With the occurrences of recent tragic events in the society in which we live, I found myself needing to default to a side of public safety. Quietly, I left the man continue his information gathering on the computer terminal as I proceeded to notify the local law enforcement agency of the suspicious activity.
