The Strength of Your Self- outlook

The Webster dictionary defines humility as a modest opinion or estimate of one’s own importance. Both Maggie from Alice Walker’s “Everyday Use” (1973) and Emily from Tillie Olson’s “I Stand Here Ironing” (1961) lack self-actualization, and neither of the two know their own self-values, which make them unique. When a child does not receive sufficient attention, they grow up to be more self conscious and isolated. Although both young ladies have flaws in their lives, they both possess reasons to be ashamed of their individuality. As a child Emily was very secluded. She was not exposed to the adequate amounts of love her siblings received.
