In the novel Cyrano does not care what people think about him. He could care less what people think because he lives to please himself. ... This was shown when Cyrano was in an argument with Valvert. Another time this trait was shown was when Cyrano was in a scuffle with a meddler. One more time when this was shown was when Cyrano said he glories in his nose. While at the Hotel de Bourgogne, Cyrano got in a little scuffle with a meddler. ... Cyrano replied with a sarcastic remark listing many things Valvert could of said about his nose; his comment was rather dry.
