What a Change
What is change? It means to make or become different. In Fahrenheit 451 the main character of the novel goes through some major changes. The same is true of David in Pleasantville. While these two works didn't have the same plot, they did both have something in common: someone changed in a noticeable way. These characters went through both social and mental changes. This proves that movies and books can have something in common even if they are nothing alike.
In the book Fahrenheit 451 the main character goes through many
changes, that also goes the same for David in Pleasantville. They both go through some type of a social change throughout their story. For example, Montag in Fahrenheit 451, in the beginning of the book he tries to be open with his wife and tries to have a conversation, with her but she is always watching her television and is never interested in what he has to say. So, he kind of gives up on her towards the middle of the story. Now, he didn't lose all of his socialness; he still talked to people and had conversations with people such as clarisse, Faber, and whomever he could keep a conversation without being distracted. In the beginning of the movie he is kind of the nerd in the school and has one friend and has no social capabilities what so ever. But then he gets put into the show Pleasantville and he starts basically coming out of his shell and talking to people. Also, in the beginning of the book, he would never be in a sport and when he gets put into Pleasantville he is on the basketball team and is more like a jock than a nerd. That is one major idea of how these to people are similar or what changes they went through.
The next change that I thought I saw in the two people was how
they changed mentally. In Fahrenheit 451 Montag goes through this change towards the...
