Stuck In Neutral
“Yep, according to the world I’m dumb as a fence post. I’ve heard the docs explain why they think I’m so stupid to my parents and my parents explain it to their friends about a trillion times. They think its because my brain doesn’t work. They don’t know that is only partially true.” This quote comes from a Michael L. Printz Honor Book titled Stuck In Neutral by Terry Trueman. The novel is about a fourteen-year-old boy named Shawn McDaniel who lives with the condition, cerebral palsy (C.P.), which is where the brain got damaged at birth and now is incapable of controlling his muscles. The story takes place in his town about a mile from the Seattle center in Washington and a mile and half from Bell Town.
