Even Ilyich’s widow, Praskovya Federovna, seem more concerned of the suffering she experienced over the final weeks, than that of her husband. She also was only concerned about where her income was going to come from now that Ivan was no longer with her. Ilyich’s death seemed to be more of an inconvenience than a tragedy. The main goals of Ilyich’s life were to increase his social standing via career promotions, friends and family. ... In the new house Ilyich takes a bad fall, and an injury that Ilyich saw as a minor bruise escalated to something much worse. ... Ilyich was prescribed medicine, and followed the doctor’s instruction, but the pain did not subside.
