Canterbury Tales In the Pardoner s Tale

... This is the case in Geoffrey Chaucer’s “The Canterbury Tales”. In the “Pardoner’s Tale”, the Pardoner tells a story dealing with greed being the root of all evil. There’s many ironies in the story consisting greed and hypo-criticism. Irony exists within the story and in the relationship between the Pardoner and the tale.
An ironic distinction can be made with what the Pardoner is known to be, and the tale that he tells. The irony begins as soon as the Pardoner starts his prologue. ... The pardoner is being hypocritical because his tale consists of three men who are infected by greed and end up killing each other.
