Devil’s Advocate (1997) This movie starts out in a courtroom in Gainesville, Florida. Kevin Lomax (played by Keanu Reeves) is a lawyer that has never lost. His client is on trial for child molestation and Kevin knows that he is guilty. Nonetheless, Kevin beats the case and frees his client. This prompts John Milton (Al Pacino), the head of a powerful law firm in New York, to invite Lomax to join his firm as a criminal lawyer. Kevin and his wife, Mary Ann (Charlize Theron) are eventually persuaded to leave Florida and move to New York. They move from a simple Southern lifestyle to one of power and glamour. Kevin is completely consumed by work and Mary Ann is entangled with the other elitist wives. Only soon do they find out what they really got their selves into. Lomax eventually starts to understand that he is working for a corrupt firm and that his boss, Milton, is not who he is cracked up to be. Meanwhile, Mary Ann hates her new life and begins to grow insane. She ends up committing suicide, while Kevin ends up realizing that Milton is his father and worse, the devil himself.
