Striving Toward My Goal I was born in the People`s Republic of China. I came to the United States when I was sixteen. Before I arrived in my present high school, I attended school in China. There are many differences between American and Chinese education at systems. I learned communism since the first day I went to school. I was completely at odds with my communist upbringing. I needed to learn a new philosophy. The United States has much better developed educational system than China, so I left China to pursue my education in the United States. I felt overwhelmed when I first came to the United States. In the beginning, I had difficulty understanding what the teacher was saying in class because I did not know to speak English at all and I had not friends in America.
