... 225 Question: 2 Upon reading the question I was forced to ask myself what are women expected to do in regards to keeping the global order? ... Women are expected to not only participate in the global order but to be the proprietor of the reconstruction of it. In Mies’s book she discusses the role the women are (basically) forced to take on. Mies discusses how biology is used to explain the exploitative, unequal and oppressive treatment placed on women. The labor placed on women is categorized in a different form from male labor. The basis for the unequal treatment stems from the societal stereotypes that women’s labor is not really labor it is biologically “their job” Women are politically forced to participate in the global order by keeping the order. ... Women especially in the political world are expected to be more nurturing than males. As a result of this women are expected to be the “backbone” not only to their husbands but also to America. ... On the crop fields and in the “master’s” homes black women were expected to keep the order among the “white” masters and their black husbands. ... The Black women would also have to maintain order between her and the “supposed” women of the household among the white family. Black women were expected to be the “neck” of not only the white family they cared for (i. ... This I believe is what developed the current “barriers” between women of different color as a whole; because women of color were victims of “double duty” this resulted in a lot of misunderstandings among women. In discussing women playing a role in the economic order I honestly think I do not clearly understand the question. ... Women in third world countries are expected to work in sweat shops for substantially less than minimum wage. In most third world countries women are the sole providers of their households (financially, emotionally and socially). ... These sweatshops are run under terrible conditions, nevertheless working in these sweat shops provides a living to the households of these women.
