Roman and Greek art
The ancient Greek, and Roman cultures have left a mark on world civilization that extends into the present day. Their contributions to the world of politics, religion, art, mathematics, philosophy and architecture were highly regarded by the numerous civilizations in the world at the time and still are even today. This essay will prove that in some key overwhelming ways the Greek society was superior to the Roman society. ... The Romans borrowed heavily from the ancient Greeks, and owe a lot to the Greeks, most visibly in art and architecture. The ancient Greek culture was the foundation for the Roman Empire. The Roman people wanted to be like the Greek people in almost every aspect of life including politics, religion, art, mathematics, philosophy and architecture. For example, the Romans made a sculpture of the Greek goddess Aphrodite. The Romans also reconstructed a large part of Rome in Greek architectural style when in 64 AD a massive fire destroyed a large part of the city. The Romans recognized the Greek art and architecture to be of high quality. Since the Romans admired most of the traits of the Greeks they used Greek ideas and created their own.
