“The Secret Sharer” The Secret Sharer is perfect example of the theoretical doppelganger. The Captain is young and intelligent yet he is inexperienced and does not have very good leadership abilities. His crew is very familiar with one another and treats the Captain as an outsider. The Captain is capable of being an effective leader, yet he needs to gain confidence in himself and his administrative abilities. Leggatt or the Secret sharer represents the powerful person that the Captain is capable of being.
