Twelve Angry Men

“I’m going to kill you”…{thump} as his father’s body hits the floor, the knife falling besides him and the boy running out of the house. This case against a Latino boy was circumstantial and some of the jurors were overly biased in there judgements. The two witness testimonies, the physical evidence, and the circumstantial evidence contributed to the surprising outcome of this case. In this case, there were two witnesses who testified. There was a man who lived in the same building, but right below the boy and a woman that lived across the street that saw it happen through an El-train. The old man heard loud noises in the upstairs apartment that sounded like a fight. Then at ten past twelve he heard a kid say, “I’m going to kill you!” A second later he heard the fathers body hit the floor. The old man ran to the door of his apartment and saw a kid run downstairs and out of the house. He then called the police and when they came they saw the boy’s father dead on the floor with a knife in his chest. Now if juror number eight wasn’t as smart as he was this would sound pretty convincing, but juror number eight saw reasonable doubt. He pointed out that the old man said all of this took 15 seconds and was convinced that that’s how long it took. But it didn’t seem right that an elderly man with two canes could have made it to the door in 15 seconds.
