The main character, Tartuffe in the story, “Tartuffe” by Moliere, seems to be putting up a front. Tartuffe seems like he is not acting like his natural self because he has something to hide. Throughout the entire story Tartuffe is acting extremely innocent around Orgon as if he wants something from him. ... Tartuffe is definitely a fake and there are many examples in this story to prove that he is.
Since the beginning of the story, Tartuffe claims that he is really close to God. ... Tartuffe claims to have a good conscious to Orgon because when he was praying he killed a flea and Tartuffe said that he felt guilty for killing the insect ( Moliere, 1418). Before Tartuffe met with Dorine he was talking to his main servant saying “I’m going to prison now, to share my last few coins with the poor wretches there” (1434).
