In a country were resources are an abundance , quality of life soars and democracy enforces human rights , we often forget how big our world truly is. While our country brags of multiculturalism and our next door neighbor is the greatest of all , our problems seem minimal in comparison to those of less “structured” countries. A primary example of how lucky we , Canadians , are is the fact that we have no population problems , we have no worries of being overpopulated or exceeding our carrying capacity. China , on the other hand is not so fortunate. Since 1979 , a strict one-child policy has been put into place in urban areas and a two child maximum for rural areas. This policy was put into place by the Communist government , after severe pressure to stabilize the countries sky rocketing population. Present day , China is the home to almost 1/3 of the worlds population.
