night

Night is the story of a young Jewish boy who is sent to the concentration camps where he witnesses many horrors. Consequently, Elie experiences a loss of innocence, identity and faith which forever changes him. Before Elie is taken to the camps he is a happy, normal boy. Elie’s faith is firm in god. He desires to learn more about his faith when he asks for a master to guide him through the Cabbala. Weeping while praying conveys that Elie needs god in his life to survive, just as he needs to breathe. Elie is also portrayed as an innocent boy before the camps. He does not take Moshe the Beadle’s warning seriously and “only feels pity towards him”.
