In “Barbie defies law of human anatomy,” Pernille Borgholm fails to argue persuasively that Barbie has become a symbol of ideal beauty because she commits fallacies, contradicts herself and lacks precision in her writing. Pernille Borgholm a twenty year old international student originally from Denmark. Borgholm currently attends Orange Cost College. She is an active writer for the school paper, and has been for the last semester. Much has been written about Barbie’s influence on society. Dinty W. Moore, professor of English and co-coordinator of Penn state altoona’s new integrative arts degree, wrote an article entitled “Spotlight”, were she explains how barbie has influenced topics such as girls’ physical and mental health, including eating disorders, depression, and body image. Moore says “Her body proportions are unreasonable, her hair ridiculous, and her emphasis on style over substance disturbing to some.” Angela Cain and Knight-Ridder wrote an article about how barbie’s body is looked upon as being perfect.
