What is information Cortez & Kazlauskas, 1998

“Information is the raw material that must be transformed into the human mind by a cognitive process to become knowledge which is needed for problem solving, decision-making, strategic planning, management of change, and creativity”

A Information audit is to be carried out looking at introducing new systems in which would enable customers enquiries to be answered in a much more efficient way not relaying on staffs knowledge of where the information is relevant to the enquire.

A large amount of the information that the consumer bureau needs is a paper based systems, paper based systems are expensive to store and retrieval is slow. By carrying out an information audit it will enable us to introduce new systems for the consumer bureau staff enabling them to carry out there duties more efficiently and effectively other benefits from an information audit are it will save real time and money and will avoid information overload.
