There are many different types of operating systems, and preference usually depends on the users needs. For instance, many beginners tend to choose Windows or the Macintosh OS, while seasoned computer users may choose a less user-friendly operating system such as Linux.

There are also many different options to consider when choosing an operating system. The user must decide whether their filing systems, such as FAT32 or NTFS, are compatible with the operating system that they choose. ...

The user must also decide which operating system is compatible with their computer. This is important because an operating system like Windows will not work on a Macintosh computer.

Operating systems create a design in which the user can simply control their computers by clicking on programs or functions with their mouse.

In the beginning of operating systems each manufacturer wanted to design their own operating system in order to compete with other manufacturers. Each manufacturer created a different type operating system for different needs. The operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and MacOS have evolved dramatically since the first protocols were introduced.

Windows began as a partnership between Microsoft and IBM to make a user-friendly operating system. ... One of Microsoft’s first operating system was MS-DOS. This was a text-based system and it required very little hardware in order to run. Although it is generally obsolete today, some operating systems still require it in order to function properly.
