1984 by George Orwell
There are three main reasons I chose to read this book for this assignment. ... The second reason is that I have heard people say that 1984 could become one of the classics of the 20th century and I wanted to see whether I agreed with this statement or not. ... This is what George Orwell imagined the world to be like in 1984. ... “1984“ was published in 1949. ... For example, the fact that Orwell fought against the totalitarians in Spain explains a lot about why he wrote such a book as 1984. ... While Orwell’s prediction of 1984 was a long way off it was really what was feared at the time could happen the world, so in reading this book it is possible to get a look into what the feeling about the world was in the late 1940’s. ... I think 1984 will go down in history as one the books of 20th century if not the best book. ... People wouldn’t have embraced these phrases so readily if they were from a book lesser than 1984.
