In the episode at Vauxhall, one learns many things about gender and class boundaries during the eighteenth century. One thing that comes to mind is that there are very distinct boundaries between men and women of the time. For example, men can say and go as they please; where women have to be extra careful that they are being proper at all times. This is more prevelant in males from the upperclass.
