Walking the Bible

I have always enjoyed the story of Joseph. When I started to read about it in Walking the Bible, I was excited. It tells about a boy who was favored by his parents, hated by his brothers, and still possessed the ability to save a nation. However I realize now that, in previous readings, I had developed a series of preconceptions that distorted my views of the text. In the beginning of this story, Joseph is portrayed as bad young man. As Fieler notes, “At seventeen, Joseph tends flocks in central Canaan with his brothers, and brings bad reports of them to his father” (pp.138).
