Miss Brill

Throughout the story, Miss Brill, Miss Brill characterizes a lonely old English teacher. She has no social life and lives by herself. She has an abnormal taste of clothing. As this sentence ¡°¡why doesn¡¯t she keep her silly old mug at home?¡± she is no one with fashion because of her fox fur. Her lifestyle is also immutable and frozen. There is no excitement that exists on her.
She is easily self-complacent and usually talks to herself about everything she sees. On Sundays, the most common hobby, Miss Brill always goes to park and remains merely a spectator on the sidelines of others communications. To be a spectator on the sidelines, she attempts that no one notices her, and furthermore everyone ignores her. After the ¡°tour of park¡±, she usually buys a slice of honey cake as her treat on her way home every Sunday.
As her thoughts, she does not want to be alone. Since she has no social life she wants everyone in this society to notice and care about her. She also wishes that everyone can give her a hand of anything if it is possible. It reveals that she needs a sense of belonging.
At the end of story, the most effective point is that she realizes she does not belong anything. As usual, Miss Brill goes to park and listen what others communications about. No one notices and cares about her. Time is passed by and she is still in her dream until she meets a couple. That couple directly dispraises Miss Brill¡¯s fox fur. The fox fur is not only just a fox fur, but it also represents her. After that, she is suddenly awoken from her dream-like existence and realizes that her life is empty and meaningless.
