Native Son
Overcoming The Water Erin Snyder Like any five-year-old starting to swim, I was scared of swimming on my own. When I was younger, I would stay in the shallow end most of the time, where I could touch, and I’d never try to go any deeper. I was content with staying in the two feet. But when my mother thought I was old enough and ready, she enrolled me in swim lessons. However, I was not very comfortable with the situation. My instructor started slow as she lead me into the two feet and tried to let go. Of course I just stood up, it was only two feet deep and not too scary.
