In the article, A Closer Look at Gifted Children with Disabilities, Cindy Little examines the idea of twice exceptional. Twice exceptional refers to children who are both gifted and learning disabled. There is an estimated 120,000-180,000 learning disabled children with above average IQs. Of these twice exceptional children, about 10% are reading two or more years below grade level.
