Capital punishment is a presently a very controversial topic in the United States, yet with 4,400 people killed in the past 70 years it is obviously still an active method of punishment in our legal systems. After reviewing court cases from states all over our nation, I have arrived at the conclusion that capital punishment is not only in humane but also immoral. Capital punishment is the “infliction of deadly injuries as punishment for criminal conduct,” which in simpler terms means the death penalty. ... States in our country vary from not having the death penalty to killing dozens of people each year, everyone seems to have their own beliefs and ideas on how and when capital punishment should be used. ... I believe that this form of punishment is hypocritical and wrong; who is to say that killing a criminal is any different from killing a regular person?
