Review: In the simple but stressed book Sandra Cisneros tells of Esperanza and her neighborhood, the reader can see how one young girl lives her life.

There are many authors that write books to help focus on a certain audience. In Sandra Cisneros's, The House on Mango Street, the main character Esperanza tells a unique story of her life and her neighborhood. Sandra Cisneros's message of the story was uniquely different than many others. One thing I believe Cisneros accomplishes in the book is the true life of many urban Hispanic girls, but fails to keep a constant focus of the main idea.
Esperanza is believed to be a young Hispanic girl who lives in an urban neighborhood where everyone knows everyone else. The young girl for the close Hispanic neighborhood goes throughout the story explaining her neighborhood and the people in it. "And since Marin's skirts are shorter and since her eyes are pretty, and since Marin is already older than us in many waysÂ…" (27) Sandra Cisneros was explaining a certain character with this quotation. The quote simply explains how the young lady Marin, which Esperanza is admiring at this time, is. Esperanza is briefly giving the audience examples and visual pictures of her neighborhood. The type of story telling technique that Cisneros chooses to use, directly shows the main point of view.
The story mainly deals with Esperanza's view of her life, the way people saw her to live her life, and her harsh reality of her beautiful neighborhood. Esperanza first begins to tell her stories of the many apartments that her family has lived in and the one house on Mango Street. Sandra Cisneros sends a message of strength.
