Death of Woman Wang

The Death of Woman Wang, by Jonathan D. ...
As I read the book I anticipated reading about Woman Wang. ... I appreciated her as a woman of business and how modest she seemed to be. ...
Hsiliu was another woman who was very respectful to her parents, but also knew what she wanted. ... Hsiliu was also a very smart woman. ... When Kao got home he dishonored Hsiliu by telling her, basically, you can’t send in a woman to do a man’s job. ... Ch’ang-hu was throw into prison and came very close to death. ... If that is not hard enough to raise kids on your own but to have the behavioral problems these kids had, takes a real strong and tough woman.
Finally we get to the Woman Wang. ... What of the woman called Wang who married a man called Jen?” Though they were poor and Wang was an orphan, they were married. Later that same year, Wang ran away with another man. Because Wang ran away from her husband, with no just cause, she was considered a criminal. That being said, Wang and her new boyfriend had to continue to run and hide. ... Because of the law and Wang running away, instead of being caught in the act of adultery, they were able to jump through a loop hole in the law which made them legally secure, but a life on the road is not that secure. Later Wang’s new boyfriend had left her. Wang could have taken a job that most of the other women took, but because she had no home it made it difficult. Wang then decided to try to go back home, she fought with the thought, and because her fear of Jen was so great, She decided not to return home instead she went to a Taoist temple to reside. ... Kao decided it would no longer be a good idea for Wang to stay in the temple, after what he had done to Jen. Kao tried to take Wang to her father-in-laws, but her father-in-law could not do anything for her. He then had a friend take Wang back to Jen’s house, Jen decided not to press any charges, but had a plan of revenge of his own. Jen was still very angry with Kao and with Wang. Jen was so angry he strangled Wang to death, then took her body over to Kao, but the guards heard him coming and sounded the alarm.
