Animal experimentation for medical and scientific research is not only moral and ethical, but it is beneficial to human life. Scientists use animals in medical research to study how the body works and how to diagnose, cure, and prevent disease. Animals are used in experiments for three general purposes: to find out how biological systems function, to educate or train students in medicine and science, and to test drugs or chemicals to determine their safety and effectiveness. Throughout history, animals have been looked upon as a renewable resource for clothing, transportation, food, and labor. The use of animals in medical and scientific research is nothing more than an extension of this historical practice, except for the gains found through medical research will not only enhance human existence, it may actually save millions of lives. ...
