In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, a young boy attempts to help a slave escape down the Mississippi to the free state. This book is a captivating look at Southern American life in the 1800’s. Throughout the book the author includes several different characteristics in each of his different characters, including the character model of the hero, the outcast, and the devil, and the situation of a father-son conflict and journey variation. Huck Finn is the hero of this story. He has all the makings of a traditional hero. Huck is kind, loyal and trustworthy. At one point in the story, Huck finds out that Jim lied to him, yet Huck remains loyal to his friend.
