What is corporate leadership? What is the difference between transactional leadership and transformational leadership? What leadership styles do the founders of Ben and Jerry’s Homemade, Inc., and Stephen M. Case, the Chief Executive Officer of America Online, Inc. have? Are these managers Theory X or Theory Y believers? Corporate leadership is the process of inspiring and guiding others in a common effort or direction. There are two different types of leadership styles, transformational leadership, and transactional leadership. Transformational leadership is when a leader goes above and beyond ordinary expectations by transmitting a sense of mission, stimulating learning on the job, and inspiring new ways of thinking. This leader always disrupts the status quo, basically they think outside the box. They have unique ideas and visions to add to the corporation, and also have unique skills and or abilities to transform an entire institution or firm. Transactional leadership is a style in where the manager or leader has a contract that you sign and follow explicitly. This leader is there to recognize your achievements but is also there to reprimand you on your failures.
