Love in Shakespeares Twelfth Knight
Throughout Shakespeare’s play, “Twelfth Night”, love is an occurring theme. Whether it be through friendship, self love, or actual true love, Shakespeare puts important emphasis on the topic. He shows that even though people fall in love, it may not be exactly what they bargain for, and he also shows that true love usually prevails. There are certain instances during “Twelfth Night” where the emotion of love is true, and the two people involved feel very strongly toward one another. The love that Viola has for Orsino is an example of true love. ... Many of the characters who are in love are blind to see that their affections toward the other characters are false. Another love scenario including Viola involves Olivia and Viola’s disguise, Cesario. During Viola’s efforts to woo Olivia for Orsino, Olivia grows to love Cesario.
