However the education that they gave us had it’s advantages and disadvantages. ... The education that was given at the time was so intertwined with religion that the population became filled with so much Catholic zeal that everyone from old men to toddlers were so pious. A trait which has almost been eliminated from the Philippines had it not been for the existence of many Catholic Schools, most of which could trace their origins back to the Spanish times.
