For example, when Gabrielle was on the battlefield and picked up the torn, rugged American flag; someone said to him, “It’s a lost cause.” However, Gabrielle did not seem to think it was a lost cause at all. In fact, he picked up the flag and for the duration of the movie, one can see Gabrielle just keep on trying to mend and restore the American flag.
