different between the Chesapeake and the New England
Although the New England and the Chesapeake region were both settled largely by the people of English origin, by 1700 the regions had evolved into two distinct societies. The reason why they were so different is because of their reasons for fleeing from England, their political standards, their way of life, and their religions. The New England was a refugee who left England for religious freedom, while the people who immigrated to the Chesapeake area left for an opportunity for wealth. Due to the religious reason, the New England created a stronger unity within the society, than the Chesapeake who were both ethically and religiously diverse. ... With god as the head of the New England colony, they believed in working together as one for the glory of God. Because the New England was very religious, the local government was controlled by the same people who controlled the church, and the bible was the basis of all laws and regulation.
