John Cranko's choreography beautifully captures the emotional intensity in "Onegin," the ballet based on Alexander Pushkin's poem. On Stage What: "Onegin" Choreographed by: John Cranko Presented by: Boston Ballet When: through Nov. 3 Where: Wang Theatre, 270 Tremont St., Boston Tickets: $26-$82 TeleCharge: 1-800-447-7400 In Sunday's matinee of the Boston Ballet production, Yury Yanowsky and Sabine Chaland, in the lead roles of Onegin and Tatiana, activated the passion and pain of this tragic love story. The ballet, which Cranko choreographed in 1965, begins pleasantly enough in the garden of a 19th-century Russian estate. Olga, Tatiana's sister, is awaiting a visit from her fiancé, Lensky, and there's some lighthearted dancing. Tatiana, reading a book, pays little attention to her sister's frivolity until Lensky appears with Onegin. It is instant attraction for Tatiana. Onegin is courtly, but haughtily stays above any expression of affection.
