Commedia dell’Arte has had a large impact on world drama history. Firstly, the characters from Commedia dell’Arte have influenced the personalities of characters on TV shows, movies and in theatres. In movies plays etc, you can often see the resemblance to characters in commedia dell’Arte eg. rich, old man, resembles Pantalone and the personality that the character may have on the show or in the play may be similar to that of Pantalone’s in Commedia dell’Arte.
Secondly, many story lines and scripts may have been based on that of a commedia dell’Arte script, and have just been adapted to fit the audience to which it is being performed to and the time era that it is in. Shakespeare’s plays are very influenced by commedia dell’Arte, eg. ...
