Genre
Breaks/Break Beat/Nu Skool Breaks. ... They really seemed to be at the front of the mix, always there although sometimes overshadowed by the fat synth stabs and lines. ...
In the mids, the synthesizer lines and stabs that seemed to reside there were very clear and separated in the mix, though it seems the mid section was a little far back, leaving the hi’s and the lows to be the driving force within the track. ... The drums seem to kick from dead centre in the mix. ...
The levels in the mix are really well done, nothing seems to block anything else out or overpower either. ...
I thought that the snare had a bit of reverb placed on it later in the mix, just a subtle use that gave it a bit more ‘grunt’. ...

Separation
The separation on this tune is great, all the instruments are nice and clear and have their own regions within the mix. Some synthesizer lines seem to build up slowly from the back of the mix then suddenly punch out into a wide, up front sort of sound. ... The use of pan is well used also, keeping all the instruments in their areas throughout the mix, with the exception of some synth sounds. ...

EQ
Overall I really liked the EQ on this tune, I think it really brings out the guitars and provides good seperation. ... They’re nice, clear and up front without drowning out the mix and they never muddy the vox at all. The separate guitars are distinguishable and in their own area in the mix and every note, distorted or not, is really clear and really, really warm! ... I also love the snare in the mix, really punchy and clear (I might be bias here as I love Jimmy Chamberlin’s drumming) you really hear the hit on the snare along with the snare’s actual sound, it gives it a real ‘tough’ sort of sound, which surprisingly sounds awesome in such a mellow song.
The high area is quite mellow and a bit ‘back’ in the mix, the cymbals, when hit, are warm and not even slightly harsh and never really jump out at you, although they don’t seem lost at all. ... The vocals are centered in the mix also, they seem to just ‘sit above’ all the other instruments, I don’t know how else to explain it, but to me they seem to fit in perfectly. ... Not one thing seems cluttered or messy at all, every instrument has it’s own place within the mix whilst the vocal sits over the top of it all in a subtle fashion. The effects use doesn’t affect the separation at all, in fact the subtle uses really enhance and add clarity to the mix. ... The levels are all great and the pan is worked to provide a really nice, even mix.
