In today’s society it seems to be that bullying is the dominating force in controlling situations. Bullying is a method of unfair control based on a person’s size and or physical and mental strength. The fiction story “Sunday in the Park” by Bel Kaufman, the article “What Should Parents and Teachers Know About Bullying?” and the movie “Forrest Gump” screenplay by Eric Roth all display the results of bullying from youth to adulthood. The fiction story “Sunday in the Park” by Bel Kaufman tells the story of two generations of bullies and their victims. Three-year-old Larry, and parents bullied by Joe and his parents. When Larry’s parents confront Joe’s parents about Joe throwing sand the rather large father stands up and blows Larry’s father away by stating that it was a public sandbox and his son could do what he pleased. Larry and his family were forced to flee the scene out of fear. Size does matter when it comes to dealing with a bully. Joe, even at age three decides that he is the ruler of the park and since he is bigger than Larry he isn’t scared to put him in his place. At age three most parents are teaching their young ones to share and play nice, but Joe and his family value different rules.
