Reformers in Pop Music

... And in the 90’s, it was Seattle grunge groups like Nirvana and the beginning of the boy band era that seemed to surprise everyone with their new approach to music. These artists seem like they have nothing in common but all were considered “Pop Stars” at one time or another.
Pop Music doesn’t have specific time frame were it originated but it is a general term used to define the trendy music and those artists that were popular at a given time. The definition of Pop Music isn’t a precise and detailed description of an unambiguous genre like Rock, Dance or Country but it is these plus much more. The best way to describe Pop Music is that it is a music genre that is, or has been, well known (popular) to the general public (Whitburn 17). In fact, Classical music was, in its time, popular music. ... Today’s modern Pop Music is best described as a style of music that is contained in the Top 40 Charts (Whitburn 16). ... Musically the Beatles began a wave in new Pop Groups that spawned from their example. ... Today, the Beatles have accomplished many feats and still continue creating music.
Formed in 1961, the Beach Boys came out with a new style of music that was upbeat and had new harmonies and rhythms that was new to the Pop Music Charts. ...
Of course these aren’t the only two groups that dominated the Pop Charts of the 1960’s but they are good examples of the types of Pop Music of the 60’s. It is safe to say that both groups have influenced today’s music and artists.
