With today’s technology, the internet seems to be the main source, on how our society gains information for what ever research is needed. There seems to be differences between the information and knowledge that is gained from accessing the internet. Gathering information, needs to be followed by gaining knowledge from the research accessed, and the correct analysis of information gathered. With out both of these qualities together, the internet is seemingly full of clutter. In the study of “Critical Thinking”, there are eight components that make up the critical thinking process, and in the following discussion, theses eight components are going to be related to the research of how information on the internet is interoperated, and the distinction between information versus knowledge gained.

With critical thinking, we have to be able to ask allot of questions and be able to examine our thoughts and relay them inquisitively. On the authors’ article, “Conducting Effective Research on The Internet and Internet Clutter”, the eight components of critical thinking, have to be relied upon and thought of when the critical thinking process is involved. ... With these basic components, the effective research of the internet will be defined.
Perception
As we utilize the internet, we are overwhelmed with all the information that flashes before our eyes. The author states, this information can easily be confused with knowledge, that the viewer of the internet could be easily intrigued by. The viewer of the internet sometimes may perceive the information of the internet as gaining knowledge. The main mistake the viewer makes while guiding through different research methods on the internet, is that they seem to bypass the thought of how reliable the information is. ... Being perceptive about information on the internet can be done by the awareness, and experience the viewer may gain from constant usage of the internet, and the learning from past mistakes that may have been made, by using wrongful information.
