Cultural observations
When a person interacts with someone from another country or culture they may encounter a situation, which may shock or bewilder them, this incident can make both parties involved feel uncomfortable. This situation is commonly known as a “culture bump”, and occurs when one person does something that is common to them or their culture, but not common to the other person. Though a culture bump does not always have to be an uncomfortable situation, it can be one of enjoyment or pleasure. In this essay, I will describe and incident or ‘Culture bump’ that I experienced while attending a dinner at a Polish woman’s house. As well, I will show my immediate reactions and feelings to the situation also I will interpret and analyze the situation, showing how I understood the predicament and acquired a perspective of Polish culture and the way the way they behaved within this situation.
