Young werther
In “The Sufferings of Young Werther”, by Johan Wolfgang von Goethe, Werther the main character is unable to find equilibrium with society. ... Werther places himself between the lower and higher classes. Werther does not fit with the aristocrats even though he is wealthy. ... Werther is unable to find his class in the lower people as well. Werther is not arrogant towards the lower class but he cannot classify himself with them. ... Werther says “Most of the people spend the greatest part of their time working in order to live, and what freedom remains they seek out every means to be rid of it. ... Werther is unable to classify himself with someone and as a result he feels lonely and is unable to relate himself. Werther does look up to someone in the book which is Count C. ... Werther is unable to find that and as a result he isolates himself. ... Without love from a person who is Lotte, Werther feels that he is lost. ... The few people that Werther interacts with, he deserts them all and is isolated by himself. Werther is forced to make a companion in society which becomes Lotte. When Werther is unable to find his place he makes his place with Lotte. Werther is lonely in society and as a result he turns to love. ... ” (27) Werther turns to love which is not a bad thing but he falls deeply in love with a women who is married and he becomes delusional as a result of him not feeling the love both ways.
